Rest for the Weary Daughter

Rest. It is found in Him - Jesus. The only one who knows our exhaustion. As daughters of Jesus our tired minds and bodies seek rest from exhaustion at home, work, in our sickness and in a physical and mental state of always being busy. It seems sometimes I never have rest and there is always a job to be done somewhere. Jesus himself was tired when he worked as a carpenter - probably long days at work with no air conditioning, but just taking sips of water to stay hydrated. He had to work though; Jesus was a PROVIDER for his family. He was tired at home as people came to him for help, comfort and even food. He loved healing, mending and making new for others, but as tired as He was, He continued to heal, love and feed those around Him. He knew this was part of His duty here on earth as it is ours as his daughters. Jesus was a HOMEMAKER. He was, above all, tired physically and mentally as he was weak and wounded on the cross, but he lay there bearing our sins on the cross so that we could be forgiven - and have peace and REST knowing as his daugters it has all been done - finished for us! Jesus was an ACCOMPLISHER!

When looking up the word "REST" I found something more than a definition. Instead another form of the word rest - not the "taking a nap" type of rest, but another kind. The remainder kind. REST - (Something left after other parts have been taken away; "there was no remainder"; he threw away the rest;")

Wow! Isn't that just was Jesus did?? He threw away all of our sins, he takes the remainder of what is left on our shoulders when we ask him to and puts them on His shoulders so we can have REST. We can have rest because we find it in the one and only Provider, Homemaker and Accomplisher who knows daily how his daughters are feeling because He Himself has been through it all. Just for us.

Rest in Jesus,
Danielle
